Franklin IN Post Office 46131
Franklin IN Post Office 46131

ADDRESS: 1265 N Main St, Franklin, IN 46131
ARTIST: Jean Swiggett
TITLE: Local Industry
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (mural)
STATUS: The current Franklin, Indiana post offices houses the mural by Jean Swigett. The mural was originally installed in the former post offices on Madison St. The mural resides on a wall in the lobby of this building.
YEAR: 1936

As I write this article, I’m wondering why I never visited this one, the first time I was in Franklin. I do believe it must have been a late night and I was ready to get home.

I’m grateful to have been able to visit recently and photograph the mural. I also found it interesting they kept the postmaster mantle that was over the door. It appears some though was given during the mural re-location.
