Illinois Post Offices

I can’t begin to tell you how long I was waiting for the perfect shot of this building. Well, it never happened. At some point you just have to cut your losses and continue on. Just as I was waiting for that last car to move this red SUV stops in front of the entrance. The nerve of some people? Just kidding

Anyway, here is the newer Ottawa, IL post office. The original is down on main street which I’ll highlight another day.

ADDRESS: 301 N. Water St., Wilmington, Illinois 60481

So here’s the thing about visiting lots of post office. Take Wilmington, IL for example, I really don’t have any recollection of what it was like while I was there. I’m just going through some of my photos and realized I never posted an article about this one. And to be honest since this was one of my early road trips in 2012, I don’t remember a thing about the area either.

See, at some point after visiting lots of post offices it just sort of becomes routine. What I mean is that I dive to the next town. I look for the post office. Then if all goes smoothly I take a quick photo of the exterior of the building, I go inside and look around and then I’m on my way. Sometimes this goes really quickly, and I don’t remember a thing, which I think was the case for Wilmington, IL.

ADDRESS: 223 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo, Illinois 60152

Another post office I’ve had to visit twice in order to get good photos and to check for other features. Marengo is not too far from home so I wasn’t bothered by having to re-visit.
