    Hello David:
This is a 91 year old Post Office Building, still in use today. It was built by The Barnes Bros. Co. Logansport, Indiana. under a contract awarded 1-09-1931. The contractors bidding had to list two types face type of stone, per the directions of The Treasury Dept. One was stone face, and the other brick face. The Barnes Co. was the low bidder with $61,300.00 for stone, and $59,300.00 for brick.
The contract was awarded with the stone face, even though the brick was lower. Mr. Alfred C. F. Locke was the Construction Engineer for The Treasury Dept. to oversee the day to day operations of the contractor. Dedicated, 111-13-1931

WOW! I immediately spotted this one while I was out yesterday. It is a great looking building. I’ve seen the Barnes Bros name before, I believe they constructed many post office buildings.

      Thanks,
