Hillsboro Illinois Post Office

January 15, 2021 By David W. Gates Jr.

Hillsboro IL Post Office 62049
Hillsboro IL Post Office 62049

ADDRESS: 120 W Wood St, Hillsboro, Illinois 62049

Saturday, October 24, 2020 I took a road trip, Hillsboro was on stop. It was disappointing to see the ADA ramp covering up the cornerstone.

If anyone has historical images of this building prior to the ADA ramp, I’d love to see them.

That curved clay-style roof doesn’t fit the rest of the building. And I agree, it’s lamentable that the cornerstone is partially obscured.

Thanks Walt, I agree the clay-style roof seems out of character for this building. But I’m grateful that it is still a post office and in full operation. It would have been nice had the engineers designed the ramp to set it away from the cornerstone.

Thanks for the comment. Have a great weekend

      David
