Perrysburg Ohio Former Post Office

July 5, 2014 By David W. Gates Jr.

Former Perrysburg OH Post Office 43551
Former Perrysburg OH Post Office 43551

ADDRESS: 117 East Second Street, Perrysburg, Ohio, 43551
ARTIST: Glenn Moore Shaw
TITLE: Building of Fort Meigs 1813
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (mural)
STATUS: Need to locate
YEAR: 1942

It’s always a difficult decision to decide if I’m going to post an incomplete article. By incomplete I mean, I don’t have photos of the mural. But the way I rationalize it, is that at least I can get the building documented and out there for you all to enjoy. As time permits or if you have photos of the mural you’d like to contribute please comment below.

My initial visit was during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, consequently most businesses were closed. I did however, peek through the window and discovered the artwork is still on the wall. This prompted me to start asking a bunch of questions to my self. So I’m wondering why it was never moved to the new building? Maybe a little more research and investigation and I’ll be able to find out. Unless of course you have something to share with us? Do you happen to know why the mural was never moved? Was it even an option at the time? When was the building sold? I can’ t want to get back to Perrysburg to see this in person.

For now here the exterior photos of the building.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.
