Shawano Wisconsin Post Office

May 4, 2013 By David W. Gates Jr.

Shawano WI Post Office 54166
Shawano WI Post Office 54166

ADDRESS: 235 S. Main St. Shawano, Wisconsin 54166
ARTIST: Eugene Higgins
TITLE: The First Settlers
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (mural)
STATUS: The Post Office in Shawano is still active and the mural is view- able by the public. It resides in the lobby on the wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1939

It was a cold early morning when I made it to Shawano. The sun was just starting to rise as I made it to the post office. I love the abundant of light I had in the mooring for this photograph. I hope you enjoy the Shawano Wisconsin Post Office.

The mural was difficult to photograph in Shawano. The light fixture hangs down from the ceiling making it difficult to view. I”m wondering if I put in a request to raise the light fixture if they would actually listen to me. I’d love to get a great photograph of the mural if it ever gets moved. So I tell you want, contact me when this happens so I can visit you again. Thanks Shawano for having a great post office.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.

Ok folks we are going back ten years on today post office of the day. This happens to be one of my very early photographs, taken back in 2003. It also happens to be when I owned a very fancy Trans AM convertible. As you can see from this photo my method and means of taking pictures was from the comfort of my car.

Little did I know that I’d be posting them on website dedicated to fans of the post office.

Thanks.

Stevens Point Wisconsin Post Office

ADDRESS: 1320 Main St., Stevens Point, Wisconsin 54481

I just need to vent a little, I couldn’t believe what a difficult time I had trying to get to this post office. If you live in Stevens Point you may not feel the same but since I was just visiting and trying to find out how to get here, was very frustrating. I can’t remember if it was Route 51 or 66 but what ever was the main highway keep throwing me off. Then once I was able to find out how to get to the post office you run into these one way streets. I also ran into several DO NOT ENTER signs making navigating the immediate area challenging.

Anyway, enough vending, I obvious I found it and took the pictures, here they are for your enjoyment. Does anyone else find the roads around this area confusing? I know I do.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.
