Greenville Kentucky Post Office

August 24, 2019 By David W. Gates Jr.

Greenville KY Post Office 42345
Greenville KY Post Office 42345

ADDRESS: 102 Court St. Greenville, Kentucky 42345
ARTIST: Allan Gould
TITLE: Source of Power
MEDIUM: Mural
STATUS: The Greenville post office is still an active, operating facility, and the mural can be viewed by interested members of the public. It resides in the lobby on the wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1940

During my summer vacation with my son we headed to Mammoth Cave National Park. Along the way we also stopped to enjoy some historic, beautiful post offices. This one from Greenville is well maintained.

The additional historic photographs of the building are a nice treat and made this trip extra special.

I love the green copper roof and how it has aged. Definitely a signature element to the beauty of this building. I’m a bit disappointed they landscaped over the cornerstone, but hopefully someone will notice and make the whole thing visible again.

If you missed our guest post from Roger, he also visited this one which we wrote about here.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.
