California Post Offices

ADDRESS: 5530 Dunsmuir Ave., Dunsmuir, California 96025

Dunsmuir was another post office I visited during my 2010 Pacific Crest Trail hike. Actually there was really no reason for me to head into Dunsmuir but since I had a ride to the post office and a couple of other hikers were heading there I decided to tag along.

Luckily I was able to get two photographs. Since the driver was in a hurry I just sort of ran acroos the street and had another hiker take my picture. Yes, another short story from this epic adventure. Taking pictures of post offices along the way.

I’m from the mid-west so as I reflect on the various photos I’ve taken a liking to the ones with mountains in the photos.

As I’m sitting here on this cold December day I’m reminded of what a great experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail is. I’m also flipping through my photo albums and realizing I must have missed a few post offices as I was organizing them on my computer. This is not surprising to me as I took over 4,000 photos during this 6 month adventure.

So here you go, the Etna California Post Office.

ADDRESS: 4417 State Highway, Seiad Valley, California 96086

I can hardly believe the year has almost ended. I’d like to celebrate by showcasing a post office I stopped at during my 2010 Pacific Crest Trail Hike. The trail heads right through Seiad Valley which is one of the reason I was able to get this photograph.

Seiad Valley is also known for another interesting fact. Its home to the Pancake Challenge. The store/diner serves up 5 one pound pancakes for hungry patrons. If you can manage to put it all away in one sitting you get them for free. Did I attempt this challenge you ask? Oh course I did. Did I finish this meal. Well, no but I had fun doing it.
