ARTIST: Zoltan Sepeshy

STATUS: The Lincoln Park post office building still exist. The mural no longer resides at this location. The mural was moved to Beaver Island, Michigan. It is housed in the Marine Museum. As of this writing it was undergoing restoration.
YEAR: 1940

I recently took a trip to the wonderful Lincoln Park Historical Society and Museum for presentation on the Artist Zoltan Sepeshy and the mural he painted for the Lincoln Park post office.

Thanks to Greg Wittkopp for the very informational presentation regarding Zoltan Sepeshy and Cranbrook. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and learned a great deal. This was my first exposure to Cranbrook which I had no idea existed. So it was pleasant to learn of

And thanks to Jeff day and staff for taking such good care of this treasured post office building.

ADDRESS: 13215 Woodward Ave., Highland Park, Michigan 48203
ARTIST: Erwin Springweiler
TITLE: American Eagle
MEDIUM: Stone (sculpture)
STATUS: The eagle resides outside near the front entrant of the building. It is accessible 24/7.
YEAR: 1939

On Wednesday November 13, 2019, the Lincoln Park Historical Museum had a presentation regarding the mural that once resided in their building. since I had a few minutes. I decided to heard over to the Highland Park branch to view the eagle.

What I though was going to be a quick trip ended up taking longer than I anticipated and it was getting dark by the time I got  there to see it.

The combined shorten daylight and Detroit traffic meant I had to hurry get my pictures and head back to Lincoln Park for the presentaiton.

Former Clarksville Tennessee Post Office

October 5, 2019 By David W. Gates Jr.

Former Clarksville TN Post Office 37040
Former Clarksville TN Post Office 37040

ADDRESS: 116 N. 2nd Street, Clarksville Tennessee 37040
ARTIST: F. Luis Mora
TITLE: Abundance of Today and Arrival of Colonel John Donaldson
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (murals)
STATUS: No longer a post office, the building is occupied by the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The murals have reportedly been destroyed.  I was however, able to find one original image at the National Archives.
YEAR: 1939

Yeah!, I was finally able to visit and secure existing photos of the former Clarksville, Tennessee Post Office. I made it here on a Sunday hoping I would be able to get nice un-obstructed photos. There were two cars parked out in front so this made it difficult to get photos directly in front of the building.

Those pesky flowers covering up the cornerstone were also a challenge. I had to hold them back while I was shooting these pictures.  Thus the angular cornerstone photo.

Enjoy!
