I love it when local communities take an interest in their history and create informational plaques like this. Great to see.

Another stop during my September 26th road trip. I like it when I find dedication plaques. It adds that much more to the image gallery below and story of the building. Why do so buildings get them and others do not? If you know by all means please comment below.

What a interesting building and design. Looks like the builder and architect went a bit above and beyond your plan box. Notice the dome and front stone wall in front. Makes for an interesting focal point and unique building. I have to admit the USPS signage does look ok in this setting.

So red roof, white doors and trim, with blue siding. All the colors of the flag in one building.

TITLE: Men and Machines
MEDIUM: Plaster (relief)
STATUS: The Newcomers post office is still an active, operating facility, and the relief can be viewed by interested members of the public. It resides in the lobby on the wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1939
I like this one a lot. What sticks out for me is the gold lettering and lamps on either side of the front entrance. This is perhaps the largest relief I’ve seen in a post office of this size. I love to see the cornerstone for this one.
I know wood carvings exist this large, but a plaster relief is quite unique.
