TITLE: Early Hobart
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (mural)
STATUS: The Hobart post office is still an active, operating facility, and the mural can be viewed by interested members of the public. It resides in the lobby on a wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1936

I arrived in Hobart just as the sun was setting. I was able to get the little bit of sunlight at the top of the building to make for some great evening photos.

The lobby is closed on Sunday’s so I’ll have to come back to check out the mural.

I’m delighted to have been able to re-visit this one in February. The lighting was much better at the time I was there and I was able to get the mural images. Note to self and other visitors, the mural is located in the glass enclosed retail section of the lobby. Even if the front door is open for box customers, you wold only be able to see the mural through the glass.

Good thing, I was able to get there during business hours. There ear also two large medallions on the inside of the building.
