Former Eureka Wisconsin Post Office

January 27, 2020 By David W. Gates Jr.

Flash back Monday,

I recently built shelves for my home office. While I was moving old photo albums around I came across some off my early post office photos. This one is Eureka, Wisconsin.

The image you see in this article is a picture of a picture. I used my phone camera, took a picture of the physical photograph I had, and then posted it here. The image below I tired to enlarge but you can see how distorted it is. I’m still glad to have it. It does represent how long I’ve been at this fascination with our nations post offices.

Amazing how far we have come with digital camera’s and photography.

Since it is not listed on the USPS website, I’m assuming this one has closed. If anyone has other information about, please comment below. In addition, If anyone remembers the address that would be great.

It was taken back in early 2000, presumably while I was on vacation.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.

ADDRESS: 1335 Southfield Rd, Lincoln Park, MI 48146
ARTIST: Zoltan Sepeshy
TITLE: Great Lakes Fisherman
MEDIUM: (Mural)
STATUS: The Lincoln Park post office building still exist. The mural no longer resides at this location. The mural was moved to Beaver Island, Michigan. It is housed in the Marine Museum. As of this writing it was undergoing restoration.
YEAR: 1940

I recently took a trip to the wonderful Lincoln Park Historical Society and Museum for presentation on the Artist Zoltan Sepeshy and the mural he painted for the Lincoln Park post office.

Thanks to Greg Wittkopp for the very informational presentation regarding Zoltan Sepeshy and Cranbrook. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and learned a great deal. This was my first exposure to Cranbrook which I had no idea existed. So it was pleasant to learn of

And thanks to Jeff day and staff for taking such good care of this treasured post office building.
