Another stop during a recent road trip. I had already made a trip to the downtown station several years ago. It never occurred to me to check for other buildings in the area at the time.

Since I was in Tennessee, to secured some other photos and made a stopped here at the main post office office. It’s not the most photogenic building in the postal service portfolio. Enjoy!

Capron Illinois Post Office

Former Clarksville Tennessee Post Office

TITLE: Abundance of Today and Arrival of Colonel John Donaldson
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (murals)
STATUS: No longer a post office, the building is occupied by the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The murals have reportedly been destroyed. I was however, able to find one original image at the National Archives.
YEAR: 1939

Yeah!, I was finally able to visit and secure existing photos of the former Clarksville, Tennessee Post Office. I made it here on a Sunday hoping I would be able to get nice un-obstructed photos. There were two cars parked out in front so this made it difficult to get photos directly in front of the building.

Those pesky flowers covering up the cornerstone were also a challenge. I had to hold them back while I was shooting these pictures. Thus the angular cornerstone photo.
