STATUS: The Jefferson City post office is still an active, operating facility, and the mural can be viewed by interested members of the public. It resides in the lobby on the wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1941

Today’s featured post office is Jefferson City. After visiting a bunch of post offices you tend to see differences and common elements with each building. Jefferson City is unique for several reasons. The primary entrance is on the side of the building. The retail window is on the side of the building. No ramp is required on the front of the building. Why do I talk about these things? It’s just what I’ve noticed over the years having traveled to so many different buildings.

As for the mural, I also think this is a unique piece. Most of the murals have some sort of person or character as part of the subject matter. The Jefferson City mural focuses on the landscape and Tennessee farms. I think this makes it unique and interesting.
