This past summer my girlfriend and I headed up to Racine to watch my sister participate in a triathlon. Of course this wasn’t the only reason I wanted to drive to Racine. I needed some more post offices for my collection.

Anyway my sister finished and apparently was really satisfied with her performance considering the really hot and humid weather. Congratulations little sis.

What a beautiful building. I’m sad to see that it’s also for sale. It was a Sunday when I visited so i was not able to see the lobby. I was disappointed about this, but at least it is somewhat close to me so maybe I’ll be back to visit again.

Prentice Wisconsin Post Office

I wasn’t expecting much when I first drove up to the Prentice Wisconsin Post Office. But After I entered the lobby I was a bit surprised to find several old photographs of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Alexander Prentice. I never had the thought to ask or inquire why their pictures were on the wall.

The Alexander Prentice frame had a label stating he was the first postmaster and the first Village President. He must have been a smart and busy man. Although I’m not sure what all was involved back in 1882.

Needless to say I was glad to have something other than the exterior of the building to photograph.
