This one is cute, nestled right in this small shopping center we almost drove right past it. It almost looks pretend or made up with the hand-made looking sign.

ADDRESS: 63501 NE Stevens Pass Hwy, Baring, Washington 98224
The Baring Washington Post Office is clearly a distinguished building. One look and I was like WOW! The thing is the first time I saw it was during my 2010 Pacific Crest Trail hike, so all sorts of stories surround this time. Baring is the home town of the Dinsmore’s, a very popular hiker hostel.
I must have eaten my breakfast, lunch and dinner here several days in a row. At this point in the my hike I must have lost about 20 pounds and could not get enough to eat. Long distance hiking does that to a person.
Anyway, I was so interested in talking to the locals and conversing with the other hikers during my visit. Now that I’m reflecting on my time spent here I’m in awe of all the details of this building.

ADDRESS: 31 DeFacto Ln., Stehekin, Washington 98852
My initial visit to the Stehekin post office was in 2010. The reason for my visit was not to photograph the building. My reason and the reason so many other hikers stop here is to pickup their provisions. Stehekin is ideally located and easy access for Pacific Crest Trail hikers.
So I have a special place and fond memories of visiting this one. I’m sad to see that it has closed and is now on under my “Former” post office category but delighted I was able to visit when I did. I know PCT hikers will be sad to see this one go.
Stehekin was also the first place I became aware of the Postal Portrait book.
