Another post office we visited after my Appalachian Trail hike in 2007. My parents drove out to pick me up at the end. On our way home we drove through Bennington. I begged them to stop and of course they did. I think this was my mother or father taking my picture in front of this one.

Thanks Mom & Dad for picking me up and putting up with the “hiker smell” and taking my picture.

Reflecting on this one now in 2012 I’m unsure if it’s still an active post office. I attempted to look this one up on the USPS website but I did not find it. Anyone out there know the address or fate of this one? I’m currently pulling some old photos I have archived or in older albums.

My visit to this one was in 2007 as I was hiking the Appalachian Trail. I actually spotted this one as I was crossing the street nearby. I was kind of in a hurry to keep moving so I didn’t stay long. If I remember correctly, it was a weekend and I don’t remember it being open.

Anyway here it is, excuse the large beard, when you’re thru-hiking most hikers don’t shave the entire hike. It is just sort of hiker thing to do.

I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find this one on the USPS website. When I entered the zip code 25424 I get results pointing to Charles Town and not Harpers Ferry.

Anyway my initial visit to this post office was the summer of 2007. As I was hiking the Appalachian Trail I stopped here for a much-needed break. Since Harpers Ferry is also the headquarters of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy I also wanted to visit the main office and say hello. I was delighted to visit and glad I stopped by. Looking at the trail register and seeing who else was hiking that year was really fun.

Since documenting my visits was less of a priority back then I only have the two photos. Funny how I must have incorrectly set the timer on my camera. The photograph below is a nice shot of me walking away. I could make up something like “I just wanted an action shot” but I’d figure you would just think that was goofy. Good thing you don’t see my large beard from not shaving all summer.
