Powers Lake Wisconsin Post Office

ADDRESS: 39922 Bloomfield Rd., Powers Lake, Wisconsin 53159

A post office in a Barn? Yes, it is true, sometimes you even find post offices in strange places. Powers Lake, Wisconsin is one example.

My girlfriend and I both chuckled as we ran across this one. Peering through the window its finished just like any other post office. It would be funny if you could like order a dozen eggs when you purchase your stamps. I’m just saying!!!

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.

Martinez Lake Arizona Community Post Office

February 22, 2012 By David W. Gates Jr.

Martinez Lake AZ Community Post Office 85365
Martinez Lake AZ Community Post Office 85365

ADDRESS: 301 C St., Martinez Lake, Arizona 85365

Is it still there?

While visiting my parents in the winter of 2004 we discovered this small little community post office.

What makes this one unique is that there is an influx of retirees who head south for the winter. (My Parents included) Because of the population explosion during the winter months the post offices in Yuma defiantly deal with the increased traffic. Setting up community post offices such as the Martinez Lake I’m sure is one way of dealing with the increased volume of mail.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.

Palatine Illinois Post Office

February 21, 2012 By David W. Gates Jr.

Palatine IL Post Office
Palatine IL Post Office 60067

ADDRESS: 440 W. Colfax St., Palatine, Illinois 60067

The Palatine post office is special to me for two reasons. First I grew up in Palatine IL so this is my home town. Second, my uncle is a letter carrier and is based out of this office.

I visited today to get some pictures and to take a closer look at the building. I did not find a dedication plaque or any other unique features. It was a little difficult taking pictures because of the close proximity to the street. Since it’s a large building I ended up crossing the street to get a full shot.

Thanks,

David W. Gates Jr.
