Celebrating our Nation's Post Offices

This week I feature some of my early post office visits. Another early photograph was the Pembine, WI. This is my brother-in-law and myself standing in front. This photo was taken during one of our whitewater rafting road trips back in 2002.

Folks this is one of the very first pictures I took. It was also taken on the same whitewater rafting trip I took which started this project of photographing post offices. This one was taken in the summer of 2002.
The very first photo we took was the Athelstane, WI post office. This was the second or third one we stopped at on our road trip home. These are the two photos from that trip, one of the building and one with me in front.

The Lomria, WI Post Office is another stop on a road trip back in 2003. Back in these days I didn’t carry a tri-pod to take my self portraits. I usually ended up just setting up my camera on the hood or trunk of my car, set the timer and run towards the front of the building. The pictures below are classic example of my early days of photographing post offices.
Notice it’s a beautiful day and once again I’m driving around in my convertible Trans AM. I was cool back then, some people would say “not so much anymore”, maybe they were envious of the sweet ride.
