Celebrating our Nation's Post Offices
ADDRESS: 170 Lance Dr., Twin Lakes, Wisconsin 53181
On our way home from Lake Geneva today we decided to stop at the Twin Lakes Post Office. The lobby was open and I was able to photograph the dedication plaque.
Dedicated in 1989 while George Bush was president. Anthony M. Frank as postmaster general.

Pell Lake appeared close when we first looked at the map, so we decided to find it. The USPS app on the iPhone displayed a different location on the map. But since we had the address we were able to find it.
I did not find a dedication plaque or any other distinguishing features. I did however, notice an older building across the street.
While visiting the current Pell Lake Post Office, directly across the street was a vacant building that appeared to be the original post office. The building really looks similar to what a 50’s or 60 style post office building looks like. There were no signs or indications, but after viewing many post offices you can’t help but conclude this building must have been the original post office. If anyone out there knows the history of Pell Lake or can verify this I’d like to hear from you.

As I was looking for the Glenview, IL post office I discovered this one. What I find interesting is that I’ve been around this area for a number of years and just now discovered this village existed.
Perfect, I said to myself as I quickly took a few pictures. I was on my way to work and wanted to get a few pictures before my shift. This post office is attached to another Golf community building. It appears like they are older buildings which I find interesting.
The dedication plaque at the Golf Post Office is dated 1959. Dwight D. Eisenhower was president of the United States, Arthur E Summerfiled was postmaster general. This is the first post office I’ve come across that list Deputy postmaster general and assistant postmaster general. Here is what’s listed on the plaque.
Deputy postmaster general, Edson O. Sessions, Assistant postmaster generals, John McKibbin, E. George Siedle, Hyde Gillette, Rollin D. Bernard and Eugene J. Lyons.
