Today I woke up and decided to get in the car and drive. I had no plans today, nor did I even want to plan anything. The only possibility would be stopping by a post office. So I just picked a direction and we set out for the day.

We ended up in Walworth, WI. Since we passed several antique shops we decided to shop around. My girlfriend likes antiques and shopping so I tried to make most of this day for her. With any of my driving excursions we eventually found the post office and stopped to take pictures.

The Walworth, WI post office was dedicated in 1958 while Dwight D. Eisenhower was president. Arthur E. Summerfield as postmaster general. Edson O. Sessions as Dupty postmaster general. Assistant postmaster generals, John M. McKibbin, E. George Siedle, Hyde Gillete, Ormonde A. Kieb, and Eugene J. Lyons.

Genoa City Wisconsin Post Office

As we were driving home from Lake Geneva we passed through Genoa City. It was on the way home so we stopped. Anyway we pull up to the parking lot and two kids are playing with a radio controlled car in front of the building.

I was hoping to get a un-obstructed photo but the two kids didn’t move and I felt bad asking them too just so I could get a picture. I ended up getting the little boy with his car in the photo. Oh well makes for a good story I kept saying to myself.

The doors were locked but I could see the dedication plaque on the right inside the front entrance. I took a picture through the glass. It read dedicated in 1990 by president George Bush, Anthony M. Frank as postmaster general.

Wilmot Wisconsin Post Office

I must have visited this one a few times. The date stamp on the pictures I have are from March 2011 and May of 2011. I really don’t remember if there was a dedication plaque. I think both times I visited it was a Sunday and the lobby would have been closed anyway.
